Question: Is the zionist government financing American fundamentalists?

It seems to me the rise of the so-called Christian Right corresponds with the rise in U.S. funding for the zionist occupation. And - perhaps coincidentally - fundies - previously very marginal - suddenly seemed to become very cash-endowed as they became increasingly strident supporters of what is called "israel". Do you think U.S. tax dollars are being sent to Tel Aviv, whereupon a slice of the dough comes back to finance so-called Christian Zionism? Which in turn promotes zionism as it grows in wealth and influence?

Answer: The Israeli government is lavishly endowed by the American government and certainly has the financial means as well as the motive to finance pro-Israeli sentiments and that means finding people to do it. It is not a question of financing America,so I don't know where GNPs come in. It is a question of financing fundamentalist ministers. Many of them - Billy Graham, etc. - did rise to national prominence very quickly after LBJ lavishly cranked up U.S. foreign aid to Israel. And it was at that very time that fundies suddenly switched from being antisemitic to being fervid supporters of Israel, the justification - flimsy, really - being that it represents some sort of fulfillment of prophecy. Groups like CUFI - Christians United For Israel - have an awful lot of money and they aren't raising it themselves,it's either coming from the Israeli Embassy or it's being raised by U.S. jewish zionists. Christian Zionism has roots back to the 19th century but it doesn't hit the Big Time until Land o' Zion hits the big time, meaning LBJ and money, lots of it. I refuse to believe this is a coincidence, particularly when zionists always play dumb whenever you bring up Christian zionism. Thousands were in Israel just last week to celebrate their support.
