Question: I filed my NYS tax on Jan 31, it was accepted Feb 1..3/24 and nothing?

When I check my status online and over the phone, this is what I get .

Your return is in process. Refunds can be expected within 4 - 6 weeks of the return file date. This is the general time frame. Exceptions on a return may cause delays. Thank you for contacting the New York State Department of Taxation And Finance.

This is so wrong !! You can't even speak to anyone..
my cousin filed 2 days after me and not even efiled and she received her deposit 3 weeks later

Answer: OK I finally Had enough I filed February 8th and no return. I of course received a tax bill on The 10th for 163.38 . They Had audited me and found a software glitch Fromm 2005 taxes. The software had carried 6 dependants rather then 3 from my federal. OK I did no know and would not rip off the state. They took the money out on February 14 from my anticipated return. I called around The 24th was told thy had o get it out of the other department and when they took the money. Still no money last week. I was mad we had to put our federal return in our escrow to pay the huge property tax increase. So they told me that it was processed finally last week but my check would not be mailed to the first. This is NY for you . They h ave my money keep taking more and more and stall returning. I would suggest calling and then calling my state legislator and emailing t Governor. IT i simply ridiculas.When I asked hwy ti takes so long to mail a check I was told by teh rude lady that I should not complain as lest it is processed.. I told her it is 2008 not 1880 and they have computers to do all th steps for acheck and it is not acceptabel to take more then a day . I also asked her how she would feel if it took more then a week for her to have her paycheck mailed
