Question: Renting in London (zone 2 -3): I've £750 to spend a month; what's the best I can get?
I have £750 per month budgeted to spend on rent in London. That has to include bills as well (electricity, council tax, tv, broadband). I'd like a furnished studio or 1 bedroom flat in Zones 2 or 3, preferably 2. Isle of Dogs perhaps as I work in finance and it would be convenient to be relatively close to Canary Wharf and the City. Or else somewhere on the Jubilee.
As for the area - decent and safe, within 10/15 minutes walk of the tube, near a Sainsburys/Asda/Tesco or whatever.
Is it realistic to expect to get the above for £750? If so maybe link some good website that would have things within my budget.
One other thing - I know about Gumtree already. I'm more interested in stories of people who already have something like what I'm looking for, within my budget, and tell me how you found it etc.
Answer: I think you're going to have a REALLY tough time finding what you want on that budget. If I was you, I@d be looking out in the Woolwich area, but even then you'll probably be struggling. AND it's Zone 4. Three years ago, I couldn't even get a studio with a communal toilet in Shepherds Bush (Zone 2) for £750.
You might also want to have a look at Streatham Hill - you can sometimes pick up cheaper studios there, and at least you're pretty near a Somerfield and British Rail.
PS have just had a quick look, and Streatham Hill really is a good bet - I've seen some 1 bed places on there already that are within your budget. Check out www.findaproperty.com

Kiplingers Personal Finance Magazine

Question: Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine Compared to Forbes and Fortune Magazines?
I already receive Forbes and Fortune and wondered how Kiplingers compared to them. I am interested in investment strategy.
Answer: Used to read all 3, but are not very timely. Now it's businees week, realmoney.com, kirk report and thestreet.com blogs.
