Question: How can Canadians finance investment properties in the US?
I have a few Canadians that would like to finance investment properties in the US, can that be done by an American Lender? Or a Canadian Bank? Thanks
Answer: Few banks including the Canadians finance investment properties abroad, unless your name is Donald Trump or Warren Buffet.
So you are more likely the find a local American bank willing to finance that venture. However, your credit rating and your annual income stream would have to conform to American standards. Because there is an added risk with an investor residing abroad, the bank may also ask for a higher down-payment and/or higher interest rate.
