Definitions of Futures Contract
Future contracts are like Forward Contracts but future contracts are:
-
usually traded on an exchange, whereas Forward Contracts are not, and
-
the exchange specifies certain standardized features of the futures contract.
For futures contracts, the exact delivery date is not usually specified. The largest exchanges of futures contracts are the CBOT and the CME.
