Question: What would be the consequences, if Canada became a 'Penny Free Zone'?

Here's what I think.
If we got rid of the penny, the prices would most likely be rounded UP am I right? That means we could lose a maximum of 4 cents on every purchase. Yea, I know it doesnt seem like that much, but think about it. Lets say you bought a coffee in the morning (-4cents), something at lunch (-4), Groceries (-4) and dinner (-4). You'd be losing 16 cents a day. Yea yea, doesnt seem like a lot, but lets do the math. Losing this everyday would result in losing about...
$1.12 a week
$4.80 a month
$58.40 a year!
$116.80 in two years!
$175.20 in three years!
$584.00 a decade!
As you can see, it really DOES add up!
I'd rather carry around more change than lose over $50 a year.
